Board Member (Volunteer) – Hearthstone Academy (Public Charter School)

Commitment: Minimum 1-year term | ~5 hours per week

Meeting Schedule: Fridays at 4:15 PM (with occasional additional calls as needed)

About Hearthstone Academy

Hearthstone Academy is a proposed K–12 public charter school designed to honor childhood while preparing students for the future.

Our model blends:

• Waldorf-inspired, whole-child education (arts, nature, creativity)

• Ethical AI literacy and modern skill development

• Real-world, project-based learning (entrepreneurship, life skills, community engagement)

Our mission is to develop students who are creative, capable, grounded, and future-ready—combining academic excellence with practical life skills and strong character development.

Role Overview

Board members serve as governance leaders, ensuring the school is academically successful, financially sound, and aligned with its mission.

This is a volunteer position and a working board role, not a passive appointment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of the school’s mission, vision, and long-term success

• Review and approve budgets, policies, and major decisions

• Support hiring and evaluation of the school director

• Ensure compliance with Utah charter school laws and regulations

• Participate in board meetings, discussions, and votes

• Contribute to committees (finance, governance, academics, etc.)

• Act as ambassadors for the school in the community
